"Hi Tom,

I`d like to thank you for the training session. I learned a lot and I`m enjoying my rowing even more than before. My stroking is so much smoother and I`m finding that holding a steady pace is far easier."

"Many thanks for the two sessions and notes that you sent.

Immediate results! Yesterday I did a 10k piece on the erg, increasing pace every 2.5k. By just concentrating on one thing, drawing the elbows through at the finish, I did this piece with an overall time improvement of ninety seconds from the last time I did the equivalent session about six weeks ago. Not only that, but this morning I had muscle stiffness in my quads as if I had not worked them properly before, so maybe there is some more leg engagement as well.

The trick will be to see whether I can make an equivalent percentage improvement on my 2k time.

There was no substitute to seeing myself on the erg, so thanks for the filming as well as all the pointers you gave. "

"Thanks so much again for the very useful and informative session, it was a pleasure for us to meet you. I must admit that having rowed around 5 million metres over the years and recorded very competitive times, I thought my technique was pretty good & expected very little change, more praise on how good it was! I was very surprised to find that I had been rowing incorrectly all this time, and it was great that you were able to pinpoint and help me improve my technique so quickly. My wife was very apprehensive about meeting a triple world champion, but you soon put her at rest with your easy manner. As she is only new to rowing it was good to catch her early and after you showed her the correct method she was amazed at how quickly she rowed in the session, far quicker than anything she had done before.

I reduced my 5k best yesterday from --.-- to --.-- on only my sixth row since our session."

"“If you are reading this you are probably in the same position as I was 5 weeks ago. You have started rowing, you are following an exercise program and you have a goal.

But the big question in your mind is, is there something more you could do?

What about technique?

I thought my technique was ok. However I was new to rowing and I did not know what I did not know.

Tom Kay knows about rowing and the great news is he will share that expertise. After only one session I realised what I did not know and more importantly now knew what to do about it.

Tom quickly recognised the flaws in my technique, explained and then
demonstrated the drills needed to correct these flaws. He employs a very open, hands on approach to his consultancy and I would not
hesitate to recommend at least one session under his expert eye.

And its fun!

Remember – Practice does not make perfect – only perfect practice makes perfect –practice of poor technique makes bad habits!!

Hope this may help you make a decision and good luck with your rowing”

"I want to use my Concept2 to keep fit and maybe even do some racing. After 20 years of running, injury prevents me from pounding the roads, but I need to exercise whenever I can, and the Concept2 is the answer. The session I had with Tom at Technique2 gave me the tools to work on my technique and some real insight into what to do and not to do. I could really feel the right technique at the end of the session, and after some hard work on the Concept2 I will be back for the next session - a bit fitter and ready to learn some more. "

"Dear Tom

Many thanks for the valuable instruction on the Concept 2 rowing machine. The ‘lesson’ was hugely enjoyable, very informative with user friendly instruction and no jargon. It is quite obvious to me that I have been using my machine incorrectly so no wonder I haven’t been feeling the full benefits and risking injury!

I now feel more confident in my technique and you have helped me to get more out of my sessions in terms of toning, strength and all-round health benefits. Thank you for being such a patient teacher – the speed of my own personal improvement was maximised by your personal demonstrations and video footage. This ensured any of my bad habits were quickly identified and corrected. I felt that the session was very good value for money and a secure investment in future health. I shall be putting all your advice to good use to tone and strengthen my body after a recent diet resulting in weight loss – and perhaps even lose a few more pounds!

Thanks again Tom; I shall be returning in three months for you to review my progress and take it on still further.

"After my first T2 session with Tom, it was clear how much additional benefit I could gain from correct technique and an understanding of what I was trying to achieve. Knowing what the right technique feels like has helped me to row further, faster and free from injury. I also discovered that with a subsequent T2 session, the benefits increased rather than tapered."

"Tom started by giving me some excellent warm up advice and explained everything very clearly. It’s amazing how many things I was doing wrong in the warm-up! Subtle changes were making all the difference, something you can not get from reading a book!

Warm-up over, we went in to the session and Tom was recording the rowing and stopping periodically to play it back to me and point out where I was going wrong. I was AMAZED at the difference in my stroke from the start of the session to the end. I had gone there thinking I was pretty good technically, but Tom highlighted such things as the fact I was way under utilising the powerful back muscles and bringing the arms in too early etc.I left the session having learned some great techniques and training tips. In 1 hour I can honestly say that my stroke feels much more balanced, rhythmic and POWERFUL!

"I can thoroughly recommend Tom’s training sessions.

As a relative newcomer to indoor rowing, I want to ensure that I work my body correctly in order to get the most out of the ergometer. I thought that I had picked up some good tips from the Concept 2 website, but there really is no substitute for a one to one session. Tom films you as you row and then you both sit down periodically to review what you are doing right and/or wrong. I learned some very valuable techniques, which I am going to incorporate into my training sessions, and will definitely be returning to build upon these gains."

"Dear Tom

I would like to take this opportunity to thank your team for all of their efforts over the past four days regarding the training course held at Washwood Heath for the Heart of Birmingham project. It has been a great pleasure to work with the team."
